Deputy Sheriff Thomas "Walker" LeMay was shot and killed during a welfare check in Wister, at a home off of Highway 270 at approximately 11:00 a.m. On April 19, officers from the LeFlore County Sheriff's Office, the Wister Police Department, and the U.S. Forestry Department, were called to assist with a welfare check at a residence.
