Biography
Lieutenant Marc. A Wagner was lost to suicide on May 5, 2019; we received many submissions about his death. We are going to honor an officer through the words of his family and friends. “He loved to hunt and spend time with family. he loved everything life had to offer. he just couldn’t fight his work demons any longer.” “Marc was the fastest officer to rise to lieutenant at Painesville, at home he read to his children every night.” Lt. Wagner most recently served as the Officer in Charge of afternoon shift in the Painesville Police Department. He also served as the head of the department’s range program and was a State of Ohio certified firearms instructor. He was the K9 Program Supervisor and served many years as a Field Training Officer, in which capacity he worked with and developed new officers. Lt. Wagner was a graduate of the Police Executive and Administrative Leadership School, and the FBI LEEDA Supervisor and Command Leadership Schools. An accomplished officer in the Painesville Police Department, Lt. Wagner was most proud of being a husband and the father of two young children. Lt. Wagner was an integral part of so many things that the Painesville PD do, and in so many areas, it is hard to overstate the impact his loss will have on this department.
