Incident

Patrolman Frank Golden was accidentally shot and killed by his partner while struggling with a burglary suspect. Patrolman Golden and his partner responded to a burglary alarm at a diner at 36-16 Northern Boulevard in the Long Island City section of Queens and encountered a suspect. A struggle ensued as the officers attempted to arrest the man. Patrolman Golden's partner drew his service revolver and during the struggle the suspect struck the revolver, causing it to discharge. The round hit Patrolman Golden, mortally wounding him. Patrolman Golden was transported to St. John's Hospital where he succumbed to his wound several hours later. Patrolman Golden was assigned to 108th Precinct. His wife survived him.
