Incident
Patrolman Alfonso Hedgpeth was killed in a motorcycle accident when he lost control of his motorcycle on West Church Street just inside the city limits of Laurinburg. He was rounding a corner on his motorcycle when he struck a telephone pole. He was taken to Hamlet Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Survivors
Patrolman Hedgpeth served with the North Carolina Highway patrol for only three months and was survived by his father, brother, and sister.
