Incident
Patrolman Tierney was shot and killed after arriving on the scene of a robbery in progress. Patrolman Tierney was chasing one suspect when he was shot and killed. Four suspects were involved. Three escaped and one was shot, wounded, and apprehended. The captured suspect, age 36, was convicted of Patrolman Tierney's murder and sentenced to life. He died in prison on January 14, 1927, from tuberculosis. Patrolman Tierney had been with the agency for two years.
