Director of Public Safety Joseph Scheid passed away while exercising at the Coldwater Public Safety Building at 57 Division Street in Coldwater around 6:30 p.m.
When Director Scheid was found unresponsive, life-saving measures were performed, but he was unable to be resuscitated.

Director Scheid had served with the Coldwater Police Department for 29 years. Survivors include his wife, two daughters, his parents, a sister, nieces, and nephews.
