Incident

Police Officer Albert Guidry was shot and killed while investigating a larceny of $37.

He and the victim had gone to the suspect's home where Officer Guidry attempted to arrest her. The woman and her mother both began to attack Officer Guidry and were able to disarm him. He was fatally shot with his own service revolver and a second, smaller caliber weapon. The victim of the larceny was also shot and wounded.

Both women were convicted of Officer Guidry's murder. The daughter was sentenced to 21 years in prison while the mother was sentenced to 10 years.

Officer Guidry had served with the Rayne Police Department for eight years.

Survivors

He was survived by his wife and seven children.
