Curtis H. "Dusty" Hendricks, Jr.
Incident
Deputy Sheriff Curtis Hendricks was struck and killed by a drunk driver on I-10 near Grosse Tete. The drunk driver ran off the road and collided with a group of patrol cars. Iberville Parish deputies were standing outside of their cars conducting speed enforcement. Deputy Hendricks was killed and another deputy was seriously injured. Deputy Hendricks' father, the police chief of the Rosedale Police Department, was at the scene when the crash occurred. The drunk driver was convicted of negligent homicide and sentenced to nine months in prison for the incident. Deputy Hendricks had served with the Iberville Parish Sheriff's Office for 10 months.
Survivors
He was survived by his wife and daughter.
