Incident
Patrolman Arthur J. Sullivan was shot and killed while attempting to arrest a robbery suspect while off duty. He had been informed by a citizen that he had just been robbed. As Patrolman Sullivan confronted the suspect at the Kedzie Avenue Station of Douglas Park "L" branch near 20th Street, the man pulled out a revolver and fired. Patrolman Sullivan was hit by the gunfire and died as a result of his injuries. The suspect was convicted of Patrolman Sullivan's murder and executed in the electric chair on April 16th, 1937.
Survivors
Patrolman Sullivan was survived by his wife and four children.
