Incident

Constable Herbert Kessinger was shot and killed while attempting to serve a warrant on a man at his home. The suspect fired a shot through the front door when Constable Kessinger knocked on it, killing him.

The suspect was arrested, convicted of murder, and sentenced to life. In 1916 his sentence was reduced to 18 years.

No passage of time will ever erase your service and sacrifice. Rest in peace always.
