Incident
Police Officer James Brockmeyer was killed in a vehicle crash while pursuing a vehicle on Palestine Road at approximately 10:00 pm.
His patrol car left the roadway and overturned just south of Union School Road in Randolph County. He became trapped in the wreckage as a result of the crash.
The vehicle he was pursuing continued to flee. Its driver was later arrested in St. Louis, Missouri, and charged with aggravated fleeing and eluding a peace officer.
Officer Brockmeyer had served with the Chester Police Department for only 10 months.
Survivors
He is survived by his parents and sister.
