Incident
Officer Jones was killed in an automobile accident while he and three other officers were driving to Coweta County to assist authorities there search for a murder suspect. The Coweta County sheriff had requested officers from Fayette County bring dogs to assist in the search. Their vehicle left the roadway on a curve near Fairburn, Georgia. Two of the other officers were also injured.
Survivors
Officer Jones was survived by his wife, three sons, and daughter.
