Gary F. Beringause
Incident
Sergeant Gary Beringause was killed in an automobile crash while escorting the team's football team to a hotel in Commerce, Georgia, prior to a game against a rival school. His patrol car was struck by a jack-knifing tractor trailer on U.S. Highway 441 near Nicholson, Georgia. Sergeant Beringause and the school's assistant athletic director were both killed in the crash. Sergeant Beringause had served with the Georgia Tech Police Department for 14 years and was in charge of security for athletic programs.
Survivors
He was survived by his wife and two children.
