Incident

Corrections Officer Gerry Paulo died after suffering a heart attack following a one-on-one self-defense drill at the Indian River Sheriff's Office jail at 4055 41st Avenue in Vero Beach. Officer Paulo was a United States Army Korean War veteran and had served with the Indian River County Sheriff's Office for three years.

Survivors

He was survived by his wife, two stepsons, a stepdaughter, mother, brother, two sisters, and five grandchildren.
