Incident

Special Agent Scott Deaton was killed in an automobile accident while en route to a protective assignment in Memphis, Tennessee.

He was driving an agency vehicle on I-40 during a severe thunderstorm. He lost control of the vehicle and crossed the median into the oncoming traffic. His vehicle was struck by a tractor-trailer and killed instantly.

Special Agent Scott Deaton had been with the Memphis Police Department for five years and the Secret Service for one year.

He is survived by his parents.
