Incident

Patrolman Richard Cahalan was killed in an automobile crash while responding to an accident call near Kremmling. During the response his vehicle went over a 50-foot embankment on Colorado Highway 84 (modern day Route 134) approximately seven miles west of Kremmling. An officer with the Colorado Department of Game and Fish was riding with him and was injured. Patrolman Cahalan was a U.S. Navy veteran and had served with the Colorado State Patrol for nine years.
