Incident
Patrolman Dennis Ives was killed when his police motorcycle was struck by a hit-and-run driver at 6:00 a.m. He was en route to assist with a parade assignment, traveling on Interstate 25. When he failed to appear for his assignment, other officers began to search for him. Patrolman Ives and his police motorcycle were found off of I-25 south of Unitah Street, hidden from view. Patrolman Ives was a United States Air Force Vietnam War veteran and served with the Colorado Springs Police Department for six years.
Survivors
He was survived by his wife, three sons, parents, and a brother.
