Incident

Policeman Glenn Clark was killed in a motorcycle collision while responding to a hit-and-run vehicle crash scene. The driver involved in an earlier crash fled the scene without rendering aid. While another officer was directing traffic around the initial crash scene, he was struck by another motorist. While Policeman Clark was en route to the crash scene, he lost control of his motorcycle when a truck executed an illegal left turn in front of him on Alemeda Street. Policeman Clark was transported to Wilmington Emergency Hospital and then to the Georgia Street hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the truck was charged with manslaughter, but charges were dropped. The hit-and-run driver pleaded guilty to hit-and-run and received two years probation and a $200 fine. The driver who struck the officer directing traffic was not charged. Policeman Clark was a U.S Air Force veteran and had served with the Los Angeles Police Department for less than four years.

Tributes

I served 1985 to 1993. You served too, before the badge - different uniform, same idea. You go where you are sent and you do not get to pick the call.
Policeman Clark gave the Los Angeles Police Department 3 years.
Thank you for your service to the Los Angeles community, and for your service before it. Gone but never to be forgotten.
Rest easy, brother.
