Incident

Motorcycle Officer John Black succumbed to injuries received when his motorcycle was struck by a truck traveling at a high rate of speed on Aliso Street near Vignes Street.

He was transported to Georgia Street Receiving Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The truck driver was charged with manslaughter but acquitted at trial.

Officer Black had served with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department for one year.

Survivors

He was survived by his family.
