Incident
Sergeant Scott Hanson died of injuries sustained three years earlier in an on-duty automobile crash.
His patrol car was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Citrus Avenue and Badillo Street.
The crash caused Sergeant Hanson to suffer severe brain injuries. He remained in a semi-conscious state from the time of the crash until his death.
Sergeant Hanson had served with the Covina Police Department for 22 years and had previously served as a dispatcher for the Fullerton Police Department.
Survivors
He is survived by his wife, son, and daughter.
