Incident
Officer Haynes was struck and killed by a drunk driver while conducting a traffic stop near the intersection of San Gabriel Boulevard and Valley Boulevard. Officer Haynes was standing behind the vehicle he stopped when it was rear-ended by the drunk driver. Officer Haynes was pinned in between the two vehicles. Officer Haynes was freed from the wreckage and transported to Alhambra Health Center Emergency Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Officer Haynes had been with the agency for 4 years and had previously served with the Seal Beach Police Department.
