Incident
Sheriff Hal Singleton was killed in an automobile accident as he and the undersheriff drove to pickup a prisoner.
The driver of an oncoming vehicle attempted to pass a car illegally and struck the patrol car head-on, killing Sheriff Singleton and the other driver.
Sheriff Singleton is survived by his wife and one child.
