Sergeant Donald Scoby was shot and killed while pursuing a subject who fled from a traffic stop.

Sergeant Scoby attempted to stop the subject's vehicle at about 11:00 pm, but the man fled, and a vehicle pursuit ensued. The man abandoned his vehicle in the area of Reiger Road and S Yoder Road and fled on foot, with Sergeant Scoby chasing him. He shot Sergeant Scoby during the foot pursuit.

The subject barricaded himself in a home. He was killed during an exchange of gunfire with responding SWAT officers. Another officer was wounded during the shootout.

Sergeant Scoby had served with the Stuttgart Police Department for four years.

Seargeant Scoby, i'm sorry for what happened to you that night 3 years ago, as your death was senseless and uncalled for. The man who killed you had no reason to do what he did, but from what i believe, is he did it because he couldn't face the consequences of his actions that he did prior, and he had full intent with what he was doing. But rest assured, the man who killed you is also dead, as your brothers with the SWAT team took him down as they should have, meaning he won't bother anyone else again and that he paid the price for his actions, which was harming and killing an officer. In other words, karma caught up to him one way or the other, because taking the life of an officer isn't just bad in itself, but it does have a penalty for those who are corrupted with evil and wrath. But besides all of the negativity, i'd like to shift into some of the good things about your service as an individual. From what i read and learned, i learned you were also a military veteran, and you served in both iraq and bosnia, meaning you didn't just serve your people and the citizens of Stuttgart, but your country aswell, so i have to personally salute you for that, as you were truly fearless and brave to stand aand fight against evil. I also learned you were well-liked by alot of people, as during your 4 years of service as an officer, you made a difference rather quickly since you did alot during your time alive, which says alot. Speaking of which, i'm sure your kids will one day grow up and learn that their father was a hero, and that they will truly see what you did as a public servant and protector to those who were unable to fight back. I'd like to think as of now you're protecting and serving in heaven, and you're apart of God's army of angels and warriors, since you clearly were one on earth, as you were sent to help and fight for others. All in all, i believe that in those 4 years of being an officer, you were able to not just serve and protect, but make a larger impact and difference than there already was at the time, meaning you contributed to making others feel safe and knowing that if they needed help, you were ready to step in and assist, which is what you did. But on the other side of things, it is a shame that not all officers don't come home from work, which is a shame but true, and i'm not an officer myself to be aware of that, since the job in itself is challenging and dangerous. But other than it being dangerous, it consists of brave men like you who do their job with passion and show others what it means to protect and serve while still upholding everyone's safety above their own, which is a selfless and generous thing to do. I think with men like you who once served in the city of Stuttgart and in the state of Arkansas, i don't think they could've asked for a better officer like you who not only did their job correctly and stuck with their training, but you were someone who would put their life up if it meant that the person they were protecting lived. Although i never personally knew or met you, i think you were a man that made a good impression and left a lasting impact on others who came in contact with you, since they knew they could trust someone who was a protector and a sheepdog to all. To finish things off, i believe on the bright side you're now a guardian angel for your family, along with your wife and children as they move on and progress in life, knowing that you're there for them in spirit and protecting them from and against all evil. As of now, may you rest in peace knowing that your service is appreciated and will forever be cherished, and that you succeeded in protecting not just your people, but your country as well, knowing that your service will not be forgotten. And as long as your name is said and you're remembered and talked about, you aren't truly dead as you live on in the hearts and minds of others. Rest Well Mr. Scoby
