Incident
Trooper Wilson Atkins was struck and killed by a vehicle while issuing a ticket on I-40, near Brinkley. He was explaining the citation to the driver when another vehicle veered onto the shoulder and struck him. Trooper Atkins had served with the Arkansas State Police for 5-1/2 years.

He was survived by his wife and son.
