Incident
Police Officer Albert Sansom was shot and killed while responding to a domestic dispute. Two days later, Game Warden George Wilson was shot and killed while searching for Officer Sansom's murderer along with Montgomery County deputies. As a result of the officer's murders the national guard was deployed to subdue mob violence. A man thought to be withholding information about Officer Sanson's killer was lynched. Another man was shot and killed and several men were whipped and beaten.
