Incident
PC Winterburn was fatally injured in a road accident when he fell from his police motorcycle on the Chain Bar roundabout at junction 26 of the M62 motorway near Cleckheaton.
He had joined the force in 1979 serving in Chapeltown and Killingbeck Divisions. Much of his service was in the Traffic Department and he had been a member of the Force Motorcycle Unit since October 2001.
He was survived by his wife and his son from a previous marriage.
