Incident
Shot dead at point blank range by a man who had broken in to a gun shop on Far Gosford Street in Coventry, armed himself with a shotgun from inside the store and laid in wait for the police as PC Guthrie and a colleague responded to the alarm. Posthumously awarded the Queen’s Police Medal for Gallantry.
