Incident

Fatally wounded when he was shot five times at point-blank range by two terrorist gunmen when, about 4.25pm, he and Constable William Campbell were ambushed as they patrolled their beat in Millfield, Belfast, near the corner of Peter’s Hill. Constable Campbell died of his wounds two years later, on 21st June 1924.
