Incident
Stationed at Victoria Barracks in Londonderry, Constable Mageean had been attached to inspect Public Service Vehicles for 6 years prior to his death. He was in Kilrea inspecting a tip up lorry when the body of the lorry crashed down on Constable Mageen due to a bolt coming loose. Constable Mageean sustained crush injuries that rendered him unconscious. He died later in Ballymoney Hospital.
