While responding to an emergency call concerning an assault at a public house in Armagh City, Constable Anderson and two colleagues, Constable Denis Joseph Maguire and Reserve Constable Mabel Elizabeth Cheyne, were killed when their RUC vehicle ran out of control and struck a bridge wall at Ballymoran, between Armagh and Newtownhamilton, County Armagh.
