Incident
On Thursday 24th August 2023, just before 7:00pm, officers from Nottinghamshire Police responded to reports of a male in distress on the railway lines at Balderton, near Newark Northgate Station.
Tracing a 29-year-old male Sgt Saville entered the rail network to help save him but while doing so was struck by a passing train.
Both Sgt Saville and the distressed male were taken to Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham where, on Tuesday 29th August 2023, Sgt Saville died from his injuries surrounded by his family.
Sgt Saville originally joined the Metropolitan Police, transferring to Nottinghamshire Police in February 2017.
