Incident
PC Pyke joined Lincolnshire Police in August, 2006. After completing initial training she started working shifts only five days before her death. On the morning of 15th January she was driving home after a nine-hour shift at Bourne Police Station when her vehicle was in collision with another car near Market Deeping in Cambridgeshire.
PC Pyke was born on 15th August, 1986, and had grown up in Cambridgeshire. She went to Yaxley Primary School and then Stanground College. She lived at home with her parents Sue and David and her younger sister Stephanie. She was described as a loving friend who lit up the lives of those who knew her.
Inspector Tony Smith, of Spalding Police, said: “It is an absolute tragedy. We are all devastated. Stacey had achieved her ambition and had a great future to look forward to. It is such a shame.”
Sergeant Peter Leng of Stacey’s training team, said: “She was a very bubbly and popular officer, very enthusiastic and conscientious. It was her dream to join the police service and she couldn’t believe that her dream had come true”.
At Stacey’s funeral, held at St Peter’s Church in Yaxley on 24th January 2007, more than 400 mourners paid their respects.
