Incident
While on traffic patrol duty about 5:00pm, PC Chappell stopped a lorry concerning a suspected offence on the main Gloucester to Bristol road near Claypits.
Morton had been talking to the lorry driver for some time when another lorry struck the stationary lorry and both men, killing PC Chappell instantly.
