Incident
On New Year’s Morning 1959, PC Roberts was checking vehicles passing through Barry Docks when he was struck by a taxi and sustained fatal injuries, including a fractured skull and multiple injuries to his body.
He was rushed to Barry Accident Hospital and then transferred to Cardiff Royal Infirmary where he died eight days later without regaining consciousness.
His Superintendent described him as a most promising officer.
