Incident

Born in Coxton, Gartly, he was the fourth child in the household. He followed in the footsteps of two of his elder brothers and moved to Edinburgh in 1861 and shortly thereafter joined the Police. Diligent and well respected he later became a Detective and then a Sergeant, before being promoted to Inspector in 1882.

Attached to Central Division, Inspector Christie was based at West Port Police Station. He was given a full Police funeral, with his coffin taken from his home in Johnston Terrace to Grange Cemetery in Edinburgh. It was reported at the time that there were over 200 members of the police force in attendance.
