Incident
Constable Marc Pinizzotto of the Toronto Police Service was shot and killed in the line of duty on 11 June 2026, aged 43, while executing a search warrant with the Emergency Task Force at 15 Martha Eaton Way in Toronto; he was pronounced dead at Sunnybrook Hospital. He had served the Toronto Police Service for 18 years, the last five with the Emergency Task Force, Team 2. A 19-year-old was charged with first-degree murder.

Survived by his wife, Andrea; his children, Domenic and Daniella; his father, Leo Pinizzotto; his mother, Linda Pinizzotto, and her husband, Derrick; his father-in-law, Tony; his mother-in-law, Deanna, and her husband, Jim; his brothers Jason (Carol), with their children Haley and Henley, and Steven (Meaghan), with their children Kamryn and Crew; his siblings-in-law Aaron (Jennifer), with their children Avery, Andersynn and Alex, and Carrie (Johnny), with their children Alden, Aaron, Ayvan and Aspen; and his dog, Mia.
Biography
Born in Mississauga on 24 September 1982, he captained the Oakville Blades of the OJHL and played professional hockey in Germany with the Erfurt Black Dragons before becoming a police officer. He coached and mentored young athletes, instructed at the Oakville Rangers Hockey Club Skills Academy, and managed his son's Burlington Eagles team. He lived in Oakville. Mississauga is renaming Indian Gate Park in Lorne Park in his honour.
