Incident

Cpl. Matthew David James Dinning of 2 Military Police Platoon, Petawawa, Ontario and Cpl. Randy Payne of the Military Police Platoon in CFB Wainwright, Alberta were killed while serving as members of the Close Protection Team in Kandahar, Afghanistan. The men were killed when the armoured G-Wagon they were riding in was struck by a roadside bomb near the Gumbad platoon house at about 7:30 a.m. Kandahar time, April 22, 2006. Cpl. Dinning is survived by his parents, Lincoln and Laurie Dinning, and by his younger brother, Brandon.
