Incident
On Monday December 2, 2013 Toronto Police Constable John Zivcic, 34 years, succumbed to injuries received in a motor vehicle incident over the weekend while responding to a call. Cst. Zivcic, of Toronto Police’s 22 Division, was responding to a call on Saturday November 30th 2013 when he was involved in a two vehicle collision near Bloor Street West and Neilson Drive. He was rushed to hospital with life-threatening head injuries where he underwent several surgeries but remained in critical condition for the past two days. He died around 12:35 p.m. Monday at St. Michael’s Hospital, surrounded by his immediate family and members of 22 Division. Details of what caused the crash are still under investigation. Cst. Zivcic was a member of the Toronto Police for seven years spending the last couple with the Divisional Traffic Section. John is survived by his mother as well as his brother and sister. As we start 2026, we can look back and note that we have been very fortunate to not have lost anyone in Canada to a Line of Duty Death (LODD) these last two years.
