Incident

Cst. Plunkett was struck by a car and dragged while performing undercover surveillance during an airbag theft investigation. Cst. Plunkett was pinned between the car’s open door and a tree, could not get away and was dragged onto a nearby lawn. He was rushed to a local hospital, where he soon died from his injuries. Cst. Plunkett was a 22 year veteran of the York Regional Police Service. He is survived by his wife and three children. As we start 2026, we can look back and note that we have been very fortunate to not have lost anyone in Canada to a Line of Duty Death (LODD) these last two years.
