Incident
On August 12, 2008, Cst. Eric Lavoie, a police dog handler for the Laval Police Department, was heading to an emergency with his lights and sirens on. While en route to the emergency Cst. Lavoie was involved in a motor vehicle accident and sustained grievous injuries. On September 8, 2008, around 23:00 hrs, Lavoie succumbed to his injuries. Eric Lavoie, badge number 699, was married to Julie Proulx and they have a 4 year old son. Lavoie was 29 at the time of the accident and was 32 when he passed away. As we start 2026, we can look back and note that we have been very fortunate to not have lost anyone in Canada to a Line of Duty Death (LODD) these last two years.
