2/Cst. Ransom was awarded the Royal Life Saving Society for swimming and lifesaving ability. He accidentally drowned while on patrol in Lake Simcoe, near Georgina Island, Ontario. At the time of his death 2/Cst. Ransom was posted to the Divisional Headquarters in Toronto. He was engaged to Elaine Williams and buried in Melville, Saskatchewan.
