Incident
Sr. Const. John Paul Flagg, 54, a 35-year veteran from the OPP’s Quinte detachment, died yesterday after his motorcycle was involved in a collision near Almonte during a high-speed pursuit of a stolen Jeep. “John was an extremely dedicated police officer with a passion for traffic safety,” OPP Commissioner Gwen Boniface said in a release last night. “He was very personable and always the gentleman. Once again, we grieve the loss of another fellow officer.” John began his 35-year career with the OPP on June 27, 1968 as a Cadet at St. Catharines Detachment and was later posted to Kingston Detachment and for the last few years has worked with the Eastern Region R.I.D.E. Unit stationed out of Quinte. Cst. Flagg is survived by his wife, Joan and stepdaughters, Brenda, Roxanne and Michelle. As we start 2026, we can look back and note that we have been very fortunate to not have lost anyone in Canada to a Line of Duty Death (LODD) these last two years.
