K9 Zeus died after being exposed to methamphetamine during a training exercise.

While training with multiple agencies, K9 Zeus found a narcotics bag. As he alerted his handler, the bag broke open, forming a cloud over K9 Zeus. Once exposed, he immediately reacted. Despite life-saving measures, K9 Zeus passed away en route to the Blue Pearl Animal Hospital in Louisville.

K9 Zeus was five years old and had served with the Elizabethtown Police Department for three years.
