Incident

Sheriff William Warren was killed when his cruiser was struck head-on by a semitrailer while he was on routine patrol.

Sheriff Warren was traveling southbound on Illinois Route 142 when the semitrailer crossed the center line, striking the cruiser of Sheriff Warren, who died at the scene.

Sheriff Warren had served with the Hamilton County Sheriff's Department for 23 years, having served as sheriff for over 17 years.
