Incident

Officer William Turner was killed in an automobile crash during a vehicle pursuit on Jonesboro Road, SE. Officer Turner, who was the passenger of a cruiser that had been in a high-speed chase involving auto theft suspects, was killed when his partner lost control of the police vehicle at a location known as "Dead Man's Curve" in front of 3399 Jonesboro Road, SE. The driver of the car that was being pursued was later arrested.

Survivors

Officer Turner was survived by his wife and son.
