Incident

Police Officer William Guidera succumbed to injuries sustained 11 days earlier when he was struck by a vehicle on Garvey Avenue while making a traffic stop.

He had stopped the vehicle for having a defective tail light and was assisting the driver fix it they were both struck. An approaching car was attempting to pass them but swerved back into their lane to avoid a head-on collision. Officer Guidera was pinned between the two vehicles.

He was transported to Alhambra Hospital where he remained until succumbing to his injuries.

Officer Guidera had served with the Monterey Park Police Department for only two weeks.

No passage of time will ever erase your service and sacrifice. Rest in peace always.
