Incident

Shot and killed after police received a call about a man loose in the town with a shotgun. Having located him in Bank Street the man raised his shotgun and fired on two officers, killing Sergeant Gibson and injuring his colleague.

Posthumously awarded the King’s Commendation for Brave Conduct.
