Patrolman Bass was killed in a motorcycle accident while on patrol near the intersection of 69th Street and Huntington Avenue. The driver of a sedan pulled in front of Patrolman Bass motorcycle causing a collision.
Patrolman Bass served with the Newport News Police Department for less than seven and a half years.
