Incident

Special Officer Virgil McGee was struck and killed by an eastbound passenger train at Elm Creek Bridge, about two and one-half miles west of Abilene, Texas.

He had been assigned to guard the bridge as part of the military's efforts to protect troop movements toward the Mexican border.

Thank you for your service and please know that no passage of time will ever erase your sacrifice. Rest In Peace always.
