Incident

Coconino County Constable Victor Melick was killed by a man he had just placed under arrest. Marshal Melick had just told subject he was under arrest when the man drew a .38 caliber revolver and shot him three times. The subject was looking for another man who had caught him whipping a horse with a weighted quirt and had whipped him with it. The subject was tracked down, arrested, convicted, and hung.
